What is Cognitive Hypnotherapy?

Cognitive Hypnotherapy is a cutting edge approach, which draws on the latest findings and best practice in Science, Positive Psychology, and NLP.  It has a flexible framework which allows it to remain up to date in the light of the latest scientific findings. With Cognitive Hypnotherapy each session is centred around you. This might sound obvious but not all methods of Hypnotherapy are the same, many use one script for all clients. With Cognitive Hypnotherapy sessions are designed with you in mind. It makes sense as we are all different. How you experience your problem is unique to you. We also believe that clients already have all the resources they need to change, but sometimes just need a little help and empowerment to do so.

What is Hypnosis?

Hypnosis is just a way of accessing the unconscious part of the mind using trance. Trance is just a focusing of attention which we all experience, you may have experienced it as you watch a film and are not aware of what is going on around you because you’re fully focused on the film. We all experience this type of focus every day;  it is quite normal! Everyone experiences trance differently. Some people experience a feeling of being very relaxed, others say it’s like the feeling just before you fall asleep. What is important is that you are totally in control, you will hear my voice and be aware of what is going on and I definitely cannot get you to do anything which you don’t want to do.  You are in control at all times.

What is NLP?

Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) is the study of human communication and how people experience the world around them. In the 1970’s Richard Bandler and John Grindler made a systematic study of outstandingly successful people and organisations. What they found was that successful and talented people were not that way by chance, rather that they followed a process which could be modelled. NLP can help with many areas of change. What happens at sessions?

Because we are all unique and everyone experiences their problems differently, the first session is spent gathering detailed information about your problem and the solution you would like. The next session will then be prepared for you individually.

How many sessions will I need?

It is hard to be precise as we are all different: with simple issues like phobias, change can happen very quickly – sometimes in one or two sessions. Many people have between 4-6 sessions, while more complex issues can take longer. .

How much does it cost?

I charge £60 a session which includes e-mail and telephone support between sessions. The fee is payable please by cheque or cash at the end of each session. Weekend appointments and home sessions are available. Please note that a minimum of 24 hours notice is required for cancellations or to re-arrange a session or the full fee may be charged.
